The Huscarls
Dark ages re-enacting society performing living history displays from Sydney to Newcastle.
Historically, The Huscarls were the elite military warriors of the 11th century. They served the Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon Kings and Lords. Depicted in renowned artifacts such as the Bayeux Tapestry which details the Battle Of Hastings.
This not for profit organisation was originally founded around 1990.The group was later reforged in 2018 under the presidency of Hearth-Fire's own Mason Becker.The mission was simple:Create a close-knit, supportive community where families and children could grow alongside the history we preserve.
Experimental Archaeology & Crafts
Recreating historical artifacts using period-accurate tools. We welcome artisans of all kinds to our encampment—from blacksmithing and bone carving to textiles and period cooking over open fires.
Community Encampments
Hosting regular camping trips, working bees, and fully immersive living history displays.

Our Ethos
We thrive in a community that represents honour, loyalty and dedication.
Every coin we make from events goes directly back into the group—upgrading our communal gear, paying for storage, covering travel fuel for massive events, feeding our fighters, and actively supporting our members in times of desperate need.
While our chosen era is the Anglo-Saxon, Viking, and Norman cultures of Western Europe, our shield wall is open to all.
We do not exclude based on family heritage or ethnicity. We proudly welcome disabled, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ members.
All ages and genders are welcome on the field and by the fire.
